Reunion - Part IV

This edition of reunion was a perfect planned as Satish Kumar JM had confirmed his presence in India in the month of August 2011.  And this reunion makes special on more than the reasons.

All the last three reunion were boys dominated, and stories, incident from our school era just flowed like a Angel falls from great heights to all deep valley.  But this reunion announcement made few people curious to know who will be new to this edition.

Our reunion had a lady luck smiling at us in the form of Dr. P Leela, and effervescent Roopashree (who many of us including me believed that she doesn't belongs to our batch as venki was famous for releasing bloopers, as it is venki who identified and recognised Roopa)

It was a pleasant surprise to see the tall handsome Vinod as well.

Our part IV edition had people from all walks of life.
Shyam - The Class"ic" leader of our batch
Satish - The eternal iron-Sports boy of our batch
Vinod - smiling beauty of our batch
Venki - The "Class (or say bath) room singer - The Nimbia guy
Roopashree - The silent element of our batch
Leela - The bookish gal who studied, studied to top the charts all the time
& finally Srikanth

As happened in our previous editions, memory, funny incidents rolled out by each and and everyone.
The snaps from our high school days brought out by Roopa and Leela added more life to this edition as each and every memeber in the snap were able to get the name tags after a marathon 23 years in our life.

Great thanks to security folks who honoured our request, and opened the school gate for us to savor the moments we left there, and carried in our heart in search of future.

Some lively moments were
1. Haadu baa kodbale song rehearsal from Vinod Kumar
2. Repeat enact of "Nimbia" song
3. Roopa, and Leela added few incidents which were remarkable in its own from our school life

The snaps are available in the following link.

Reunion of National College - 1993 Batch

An SMS from an unknown number initially triggered this great reunion after a gap of 18 years.

A call from MG road BSNL Exchange informing that, Harinath KP would like to talk to us surprised me.  Then when i had answered the call, it was one of the biggest moments, as he called us for a get-together in his palatial house near Jayanagar for the degree batch from the National College, Basavanagudi.

As promised in drenching rain, was there in the venue by 5PM on a chilled sunday evening on 24th July 2011.

I was the first to get in to his house, followed by cute couple of our batch Satish and Vinutha.  We explored our college days, by then Basavaraj came in.  Anand, and Raghuram followed.  We thought this is the last bunch of guys to come in as it was raining cats and dogs.  We didnt had any hopes of new entrants.

We were savoring the nostalgic moments and also lovely snacks, We had a lovely time, Vinutha noted down all of the mates contacts numbers, and also email id's, and we were almost to ready to get up from the seat, by that time Ravindra ventured in with his family.  It was nice to his family, and also getting the information that one more from our batch Rajshekar Patila was on the way.

A nice group snap triggered the idea of meeting all of them again and possibility of more people from the batch on August 9th 2011 at cosmo club in Jayanagar.

It was a great reunion indeed after a gap of 18 years, so many changes happened in our life, but not the friendship mind set, all belonged to the same mould even after a long long pause in our life.

Will meet again on August 9th 2011. Till then try to pluck and arrange more from the same batch of the tree.

Hatrik Reunion - Highschool Hudugaru -

Chandra's surprise reply to Venki's birthday mail triggered the idea of pulling the third successive reunion just couple of weeks earlier than the planned one in August 2011.

Mail floated up and down, and finally we all drill-downed to 24th July 2011 on the same place where we left our present and went on searching for new future, The National High School.
The inspirational educationist - Dr. H Narasimhaiah
Chandra, and Shyam were the first to put their footsteps, followed by me, then new-bee for this re-union Satish T N, then the nimbiya lad Venki, and finally long long tall & Smart guy S K Sridhar.

The newbies Satish T N, and Venki went deep in to the last 25 years, and pulled one by one interesting & humorous moments from the past to the present. It was a laugh riot all the way.
Srikanth, Satish TN, Shyam, Chandra, Venki, Sridhar in order
We are all holding, pressing our stomach with great difficulty to sustain and to control ourselves from the pain of laughter. The moments spent were paisa vasool all the way.

A big thanks to Chandra for a quick look reunion, and also to all the mates who were present on this occasion.

We are meeting again with more from the same branch of the tree in Mid of August 2011, till then wait and cherish the moments spent together.

See you guys on August 11 to reboot our National High School moments.

Reunion of Crazy Guys of Savanadurga - 5th March 2011

I live for friends...I leave good moments for friends..

This Saturday was one such occasion, where our Savanadurga trek gang wanted to meet for a chat n chat.  So as usual, fulcrum of making the balance fell on me.

I called our divine friend "Kishore" The Jigar Man (Not Jaagir), he promptly accepted our heart of invitation.  Am thankful to him. The place fixed as Jayamahal Palace Hotel (Heritage Hotel).  What a place it was, our stomach was burning with hunger, but the ambiance, the landscape, the eagerness to meet the buddies compensated the hunger.
Jayamahal Palace Hotel - Heritage

Kishore was eagerly waiting for all of us (Me, Sandeep, Yashdeep, Latesh), but we too were eagerly wanted to meet the man of the moment.  He just finished a meeting, and was waiting for us. When i called him up, he said, am already in the hotel, then in my usual style i said "Hope you are not waiting for us to pay the bill" the joke was silly, but the impact on Kishore was very high, he was holding his stomach, and laughing at us, when we reached him.
Kishore - The Jigar Man
His confusion between, who is who of Sandeep and Srikanth, is one more incident, which demanded laughter from all of us. Hopefully he is now clear who is who, if not one more I-Spy-You game on the cards.
Smarty & Saint giving solid Pose
From his talks we realised, how good the words from Yashdeep's words...simply he said, probably this piece of lands belongs to Kishore...it turned out to be true, when kishore narrated that, this Piece of peace belongs to his ancestors (once upon a time)

We had a nice, light snacks.  Kishore, the entrepreneur experience was something we were hearing with ears, and heart open.  What an achievement from him.  We were blessed guys to rub the shoulders with a magician, who is Jigar-dar in his own right.  His words of wisdom were eye opener for us.  The experience he shared with us can be explained.  Just it brings goose bumps on us.  Hats off to the ice cool, down to earth entrepreneur i ever met in my life time.
The inspirational stuff from kishore!!!!!!!!
Few snaps, may not tell the story of our high adrenalin rush, but the experience is great thing to cherish in the heart than with the keyboards
No Kishore..am not Srikanth...coz..there is only one crack in our team

The group snap, was a perfect finale for an enthralling weekend.
Me, Smarty, Saint, Jigar, Deepsun in order

When there is a symphony in the heart, and the walk..this is how we respond.  Following snaps perfectly show case of our friendship
It says...we are way ahead..so our friendship

And finally our heart was cheering like below, for one more stupendous trip...waiting on the cards...See you soon.
Our heart was heavy...but will come back with a bang!!!!!!!!!!!!

High School Life – and the funny incidents – Part III

S N Prasad was a craving figure during that time for three reasons, one it was for his charming looks, second for his bend it like beckham body due to Yogasana, and third because of his artistic genes, as his father was in to dramas, TV serials and all, he had exposed to Dramas in All india Radio.  One such play in the radio was made available to all the students in the class through live broadcast. It was one of the proud moments for all us that, a budding actor was studying during that time.

With due to apologies to Shivakumar G D, am narrating this incident.  During 9th Standard, I was fortunate enough to share the bench with Chakravarthy and Magesh, the deadly duo like laurel and hardy.  Their comedy used to bring tears in our eyes due to rip roaring laughter. The deadly duo always running behind Shivakumar  G D for one or the other reason. During that time, the movie, “Premaloka” was released, and as you all know, all the songs were chartbusters.  One such song was “Premaloka dinda tanda premada sandesha bhoomiyalli hadi tilisona, preethi hanchona ananda padeyona, banni premada rahasya helona “.  These two, tweaked the song in a such a way that, even Hamsalekha will salute these two.  They used to sing like “Premalokadinda banda beediya sandesha, bhoomilyalli beedi Sedona, Beedi Hanchona, Hogeyanna bidona, banni beediya hogeya bidona” antha.  Shivakumar initial was GD, these two changed the initials to BD, and used to sing that song all the time.  It was a crazy moment for me, as Shivakumar was a good friend of mine, who used to share a good rapport with me, these two people literally make me to laugh everytime. Neither I could have a hearty laugh nor avoid.

Our geography lecture HV Ramamurthy (HVR), he was very fast in giving notes, so we have to keep our tabs on not to miss any of his notes.  He used to tell each and every punctuation marks as well, like comma, full stop, inverted commas and so on.  I used to sit next to Chakravarthy, and Magesha, when even HVR says full stop, chakravarthy used to hold my pen, and says “Pull stop”.  Means Chakravarthywill pull my pen, and I need to stop writing.  For me it was like a hair pulling situation, a milli seconds difference, I will be missing the notes. And I didn’t have any option than to laugh for Chakravarthi’s pranks.

High School Life – And funny incidents – Part II

S K Sridhar, my bespectacled friend since 7th Standard, was a glorious narrator.  During our time, a popular TV serial was Giant Robot.  S N Prasad, our smart guy from our high school era, was a vivid follower of that serial.  If by any chance, if Prasad’s missed any episodes, Sridhar will be there to help him out know the serial story, just like how Sanajay used to narrate the Kurukshetra war to Dritharastra. Till today, I can visualize how bright Prasad’s eyes were when used to listen to narrative skills of SK.  He was genius in his own right.

One of my soul mate JM Satish Kumar was a vivacious follower and player of Cricket till today.  During our high school era, his tussle with one bubblier cricketer Krishnoji Rao was a world famous in story in our section. Both used to fight for wides, no balls, No. of balls bowled in an over, and anything and everything.  It looked kiddish during that time, but for us to rewind those episodes now, will be a laugh riot.

During 9th standard, for some non-sense reason, I and venki stopped talking to each other.  But we used to play cricket during morning session, and lunch break, he had one peculiar habit, I was  not at all a genuine player then and even now, but Venki when selecting the team of his choice, I will be the first member in his side.  It was a chidambara rahasya till today.  As for as my memory is concerned, I never betrayed his faith, I used to contribute significantly on the field.  After few days of silence, we broke our silence, and became best pals thereafter.

Our class had a small kiddish looking Ravindra, he was like portable TV of that generation.  Hardly he used to weigh more.  But he used to scream nicely.  During our school day function, whole school had been served with lunch, and an apple and some snacks.  After the heavy lunch just to give a work for our digestive system, we started playing the foot ball.  It was a dull match, as all of our stomach was full, barely we could able to kick the ball.   During one of the encounter, Ravindra was tackled, and he fell down to the ground, screaming in the pain.  During that time, when all of us went to him and trying to treat him, our generous venki, straight away put his mouth in to the Ravindra’s pocket in the trouser, and was trying to snatch the apple popping out. When Ravindra was shouting at venki with all sorts of foul words, and the rest of us was holding our stomach in pain due to laughter. You rewind this incident anytime; surely you are going to have tears in your eyes due to laugther.

Guruve Namaha!

The teachers who put their soul to shape of our souls.

All the teachers left a indelible foot prints on my soul in one or the other way.

I was from the batch 1985-1988 batch, was in B Section, MKL was class teacher for our class, and Shyam S M was our inspirational class leader.  Below are the teachers who took various subjects during our high school tenure.

It is in not in order, all the teachers were unique in their own respect, putting it in an order is an insult to us. So thought of remembering and highlighting some key points of our great teachers from our great school "THE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL"
Our Temple - National High School
MK Lakshamana Shastri (MKL) : He was quick witted, effervescent , adorable.  He had a penchant for nick naming his students, which I adopted in my professional life till date. He was our class teacher & also Mathematics teacher throughout our high school tenure.

BR Chandrashekar (BRC): He was elegant, impeccable dressing sense, wonderful command over his body as well as his language.  Even though I didn’t understand any of his lectures during 8th standard due to my poor English knowledge, still I like the way he presented himself.

BS Ramakrishna (BSR): Always he was white clad person means white panche and white shirt, he was a stout personality.  His expressive eyes, mannerisms during the lecture of Ulysses and Cyclopes in English prose remembered till now.

Ch. Si. Banashankaraiah (CSB): He was the teacher who ignited my passion for kannada.  His style of keeping dangling key chain in his side packets were a huge hit during those days.  His style of kannada teaching was awesome.  If at all I use impeccable kannada words, then the credit should go to him.

DR Vijayendra Rao (DVR) : He was our Biology teacher, he was stout and also a scout guide. His body shaking laughter remembered all the time.

MR Venkatesh (MRV) : He was our social studies teacher, he was good.  He had the knack of bringing funny moments in the between the lessons.  Like bringing kottambari soppu, Karibevina soppu during the battle of plassey, Battle of Buxar, Battle of Talikote, and so on.

HV Ramamurthy (HVR) : The man who saved me from the english ghost.  He was the teacher who used to explain the dull Geography lessons in an interesting way.  I used to wait for his class just to hear the wonderful narration filled with serious thoughts.  If am good at narrating something, then he is the man am copying all the way.  His dramatization of World wars I and II in 10th standard still echoes in my ears.  I bow my head for his great narration of World History especially World wars.

K Narasiappa (KN) : Our Geometry teacher.  Always I was amazed whenever he used to bring big wooden Protractor, Compass, and the scale to draw the geometrics figures on the black board.  He used the scale for optimum usage for two things one to draw the diagrams and second to hit the students across the class room by standing in his place.  His dialogue deliveries were too good to remember.

DV Nagesh (DVN): Chemistry teacher who was good at using the tweaky English purposely like “Chennagi Kalakit well” to remember his teacher all the time.  He brought some speed to our sagging classroom. His voice, hold on the language, the way he was presenting himself in front of his students,  awesome.

HL Ramachandra Shastry (HLR): The head master of the National High School during our era. His stomach shaking laughter was a huge hit during our time. His explanation of physics experiments was good enough.  He taught us “Vande Mataram” during our prayer session to the good effect.

K T Narayan Kumar(KTN):  Our English Teacher during 9th and 10th Standard. His pro jokes well ahead of our times were good.  Some of the jokes he cracked were not understandable to me during our immature days.   He nick named our Jokerish guy “Chakravarthi” as gundappa was too good.

K Chikkappayya (KC): Our Physical Education teacher, he was with the ASM.  I still remember he gave me a tight slap in an PT drill for a mistake done by one of my classmate.  I was not aware of what happened, but I became the scape goat on that ill fated day.But as people says the many hits makes the statue.

Aslam (ASM): Our Physical Education teacher, who was well ahead of his times in all respects.  His way of conducting parades, band set were nice to see.

Chandrakanth Shyamarao Patil (CSP): He was short person, but very lengthy talent in terms of the great drawing he used to draw in a giffy.  Even though i was never an intelligent guy in carving curvey lines neither on the black board, nor on the white pages nor on the life pages, i admired his way of bringing nice diagrams with the unending lines.

S. Alasingarya Bhat (SAB) : (Courtesy H D Girish): The hindi teacher in 8th standard,  aged about  probably 50+ at that time, who used to be in white and white clothes (panche and jubba), He did very well to chase the ghost of hindi language in me.  His narration tota bola maar maar (again courtesy H D Girish for helping me to recollect) and the hindi lessons, poems were neatly narrated during thoses times.

Sridhar Hegade (SH) : 10th standard, New teacher had been appointed, in the stop gap he handled our class for a brief period, his teachings skills were good.

H.K. Gowramma (HKG) : She was the only lady teacher in our high school days, she handled our class in 9th Standard.

Venkataramana T Bhatt (VTB): When we were in 10th standard, New teacher had been appointed, his teachings skills were good, but since he was new, and young, the seniors in the class gave him very tough time.  Somehow  we comfortably sailed across the high school era, and the hindi language and viped the fears from my heart.

(Thanks to Roopa, HD Girish & Shyam for helping me to revive the memories of Hindi teachers)

Many more teachers are there, but due poor short term memory loss, not able to recollect all the great teachers of our era.

More to come....keep watching :-)

High School Life – And funny incidents - Part I

Till 7th Standarad I studied in Kannada Medium, the 8th Standard exposed me nicely to the troublesome world of English medium.

On the first day of 8th Standard, first period was Mathematics, taken by the highly adorable class teacher Mr. MK Lakshamana Shastry (MKL), who was my guru in many respects, but for the most influencing character was nick naming the people. I lifted his logic, and started nick naming all my colleagues  in my professional graph thereafter.

There was no problem with mathematics in English or kannada, coz, in any languages 2+2=4 only.  The trouble  stood like a loitering ghost in the second period. That second period brought many goose bumps in me.  It was a Science class, and the teacher was Mr. B R Chandrashekar, he was known for silence, dressing sense, strict, and above all high English vocabulary.

For me it was like kabbinada Kadale, he was explaining science  and the terms “Mixture”, “Compound” and all. I was dumb struck, coz, for my knowledge “Mixture” was an eating item, and the “Compound” was a wall concrete fence in-front of any house.  Till the end of 8th Standard, literally I didn’t knew the exact meaning of those words.  How much dumb I was then and even now J

Venki, he came from village background, Ramanagara. One Monday, straight from his hometown, he came to the school in a colour dress, one of his friend gave an idea, if you say, today is your birthday the PT master Mr. Aslam (ASM), will let you in.  The golden words clicked, and he was in to the class.  Unfortunately, the Kannada teacher Mr. Chi. Sa. Banashankaraiah (CSB or Ch. Sa. Ba) question Venki for his colour dress, he said the same Gili Pata (Parrot Speech) “My Birthday saaaar”, then the teacher asked him, what is your date of birth, with out any hesitation, venki told the actual date of birth, without knowing he is falling in to the trap.  Then the angry, and wild teacher gave him a tight slap, till today venki remembers it.

Again on one of school function (Talents day), Venki got selected to sing folk song infront of the full house close 1000 plus students and teachers.  He was robust, and his voice was intoxicating, he went near the mike, and started singing “Nimbiya banada myagada”, his voice was in high octane, and the gals sitting almost 50 mtrs away from the stage, literally close their ears, and heard the full song.  After that all of our stomachs were paining because of heavy laughter. But it was truly amazing, no stage fear for him, he went in full throttle.

Silver Jubilee Year of friendship (1985-2010): Introduction of soul mates

I was fortunate enough to get in to the world of soul mates.  We were like pancha pandavas.  The Silent intelligent Shashi (Yudhistira), The Intel-giant-Venki (Bheema), The Conqueror of the ambitions (Arjuna)-Satish (fondly we used to call him – JM), The Brave heart Loki (Nakula), and finally good for nothing –Sriki.

The meeting up of five souls.

Myself and JM’s friendship blossomed in 1984 in National Higher Primary School in Basavanagudi during our 7th Standard.  It was like any immature friendship, just we used to play together, quarrel, and fights all were part of our school days.

Then during the next year 1985, when we reached high school, fortunately JM, and myself were in the  same 8th Standard B section in the National High School.  We were fortunate enough to get the contact of Venki, and then Shashi.

So the next three years it ran like a bullet train, we had many memorable incidents to cherish in our life.

One more bogie to our bullet train life was waiting in the college life in the name of Loki.  Again gods grace all four of us were in the same section of PUC “C” section, where Loki joined our barmy army.

Later on it was heaven descended on the earth; the high fives were always together whereever we go.  It could be movies, it could be lunch, dinner,  or weekend visits to Ramanagara or anything. We followed each other like a shadow of each other.

Our souls were one, but the bodies were five.  That was the bond of our friendship.
